Grievance Severity Code Database Maintenance
The Grievance Severity Codes database contains codes needed during the creation of grievances. Although Severity Codes are not directly attached to a grievance, they are attached to grievance reason codes which are in turn attached to a grievance. Severity Codes are meant to indicate how severe or important a grievance is. The Grievance Report lets you list grievances in order of severity so you can determine which ones should be reviewed first.
The severity code is a two-digit number. You decide whether you want low numbers to be more severe than high numbers or vise-versa. The only factor that may influence your decision is if you sort the Grievance Report by severity code, the grievances with the lower number will appear at the beginning of the report, with the higher numbers at the end. If you want the most severe (important) grievances to appear first on this report, assign the most severity code the lowest number. If you want the most important grievances to appear at the bottom of the report, assign the most severity codes the highest numbers.
