The FTE ALLOCATION MENU gives you access to the sub menus which allow you to maintain and view FTE/hour allocations for the entities of location, position, bargaining unit, employee category, and department. Once allocations have been created for any of these entities, you can compare them to the assigned FTE/hour amounts to see if any discrepancies exist by running the FTE allocation report(s). For example, suppose a particular location has been allocated 30 FTE positions. You will want to ensure that throughout the year the assigned FTE amount (as entered in the assignment system) is equal to the allocated amount. If the two amounts are not equal you will want to know why. The FTE allocation reports will alert you to any discrepancies. In addition to comparing FTE amounts and assigned FTE amounts based on location, you can compare FTE allocations for position, bargaining unit, employee category, and department.
Because the allocated amounts are year based, you can set up future year's allocations ahead of time as well as maintain a history of past year's allocations.
To use the FTE allocation screens, you must create the database items listed below.

The location, position, bargaining unit, category, and department codes only need to be set up if you plan to use the corresponding allocation screens and reports. For example, only set up location codes if you plan to use the LOCATION FTE ALLOCATION menu.
FTE allocation codes let you breakdown an entity's entire allocation into smaller amounts. For example, suppose we are allocating teaching positions for a school that has been allocated 30 full time equivalent positions. We can create one FTE allocation code for the full 30 hours or create several smaller FTE allocation amounts and assign them to different allocation codes like FR IMM=2 FTE, CADRE=3 FTE, REG=25.
