Employee Category  Database Maintenance

Employee Category Code allows you to group employees based on the type or category of work that they do. Employee category codes are entered for employees in the demographics screen. Category code can also be entered for position codes so that you can tell what positions belong to which employee categories. If you are using the Dispatching System and choose to group replacement employees by employee category, the employee category code becomes mandatory for each position code.

Some of the common category codes you may want to use are:

Employee Category Code

  • Enter an employee category code of up to 4 alphanumeric characters. 

Description

  • Enter a maximum of 30-character description for this code.

*The following fields are used in Most Assigned Demographics Update.

Non-Assigned Category

  • Enter the category code representative of the category in field 01 when unassigned. For example, if field 01 is TEACHER, add something like SUB.

Non-Assigned Status

  • If you have a special status code for employees that do not have current assignments, enter that status here.

Assigned Status

  • If field 04 is filled in, you should fill this field in with the status code for employees with assignments.

On Leave Status

  • If you have a special status code for employees that are entirely on leave, you should enter that code here.

Position

  • Enter the position code that usually is associated with this category code. 

Role

  • Enter a role that employees in this category can fulfill.
