Assignment Type Code Database Maintenance
An Assignment Type Code must be entered on every employee assignment created. These codes are used to represent the type of assignment. Whether or not an assignment is continuing or temporary is one of most important distinctions to be made with this code. Some users may use this code to identify an assignment as being a long-term leave. In this case, one code for each type of leave would be appropriate.
Each assignment type code contains three flags which make them more powerful. These flags mark whether the assignment is continuing or temporary, regular or leave assignment and whether or not this type of assignment is eligible for benefits. The leave flag determines whether or not the assignment is actually a long-term leave. This flag is used throughout the system to separate assigned FTE/hours from leave FTE/hours. This field MUST be filled in properly for the assignment reports to work properly. Of the three flags on the assignment type code, this one is by far the most important. The other two receive minimal use.
The continuing/temporary flag is used on one report. This report (Payroll Assignment Report) will prompt for whether or not you want to include continuing, temporary or both kinds of assignments on the report.
The benefits flag is used in the assignment module to try and determine default for the benefits fields on the assignment. The system will check to see if an employee has more than the position's minimum benefits hours and at least one assignment with an assignment type code that has the benefits flag set to 'Y'.
Possible leave type codes are shown below:
Code | Description | Benefits | Leave | Continuing | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
CONT | Continuing Assignment | Y | N | Y | ||
TEMP | Temporary Assignment | N | N | N | ||
MED | Medical Leave | N | Y | Y | ||
