Warehouse - Stock File Transfer
The Stock File Transfer program provides you with the ability to transfer a stock item and all related history to a new stock number. Essentially, you are renaming the old stock number to a new stock number. Due to the intensive processing required, this process Must be run in batch. It is very important to take note of the job number created, as the file created by this process will contain a detailed account of all records copied and whether or not the transfer was successful. By default the old stock item is hard deleted and all history related to the old stock item is copied to the new item.
Stock#
Enter a valid stock number that exists in the stock file. Use lookup to locate a stock item using words contained in its description or press Select to choose an alternate method of selecting a stock item.
Entry of a blank stock item will exit the program.
*** WARNING ***
This process should only be run when no users are accessing the atrieveERP accounting system. This is to prevent users from causing data integrity problems by accessing stock items in the process of being deleted or transferred or transferred.

Exit Enter 'E' to enter a different stock item.
Transfer Enter 'T' to transfer a stock item to a new stock number. You will be prompted to enter a new stock number.
If you enter an existing stock number the following message appears.

If you selected Yes to merge items together note that the characteristics of the 'merge to' stock item will be maintained except for the cost price which is from the 'merged from' stock items. There is no price averaging done using this process. If you wish to merge active stock items and average the costs you should remove all stock and then reĀ enter the stock using the adjustments module.
Entry of a blank new stock number will return you to the Stock File Transfer screen. Once you enter a new stock number a second screen will appear prompting you to select a batch queue and an output device. While the batch job is running, the stock item will be flagged as Pending Transfer. Make sure to examine the jobnumber.LST file created in your Report Viewer to check if the stock item was successfully transferred. A comment will be added to the 'Notes' file of the new stock item indicating that a transfer took place.
