Salary Grid

The Salary Grid parameters are designed to assist those organizations that control their pay scales or salary levels in the form of a grid or table. The salary grid characters may indicate certain criteria, such as category, years of experience, etc., to provide a matrix of pre-established salary points. The six characters may be split up in any way to signify the type of grid, row, column, step, or level.

Twelve grid points are provided, in terms of base salary and hours. The first grid point values are the current default figures, and the additional grid point values may be used to provide salary projections for anticipated grid increases or for tracking historical salary values. Actual salaries, currently in place, may also be used for a current projection. The employee's current salary amount should always be defined as grid point 1. The Reference/Effective Date display is taken from the Daily Time Entry Profile, when applicable.

The 6 characters in the grid are designed to be used as follows (GGCCSS). 'GG' is the grid identifier (e.g. TE = Teachers). 'CC' is the class and 'SS' is the step (increment) within the class. So TE0102 would be a Teacher on class or education level 01 with 02 years experience.  Changes to the database salary grid values does not affect employee's function lines until a Salary Grid/Payroll Update is run. See Sections 3,2,6, 3,2,7 and 3,2,8 for additional information on salary grids.

Override DTE Rate Default

This field only appears when Daily Timesheet Entry (DTE) is active.

The DTE profile includes a field which defines the default pay rate setting being either Salary grid or Function lines. This setting indicates where the process will pull the employee's pay rate from.  This field allows for an override to the pay rate setting. When DTE is defined to use the salary, grid rates and you override this field for a specific salary grid, then when that salary grid is used the rate will be taken from the employee's function lines instead. When DTE is defined to use Function lines rates, the process would use the salary grid rate when the override salary grid is used.

  • Enter "N' when the salary grid is not to be an override to the default pay rate setting during entries under DTE.

  • Enter 'Y' when this salary grid is to indicate a default pay rate setting override.
