The Batch Type Code is used to segregate different types of batches of input data. For example, it may be convenient for the user to batch time sheets by department or employee type. In such cases, batch type codes can be set up to represent departments or employee types.
Once defined, the batch type code is used in conjunction with the pay period and a batch sequence number to provide a unique identifier for all batched input. This identifier is referred to as the batch control number and uses the format:
