Appendix F - Special Key Sequences

Four new special key sequences were added with the release of the Master Menu system, in addition to the PF1 - PF4 keys described in Appendix E. These key sequences allow the operator to access special functions from any menu or input prompt by pressing the <PF1> key followed by a C, H, P, K or Q.

The <PF1><P> key combination invokes the PASSWORD CHANGE utility. This option may be used by any operator using an TSC system with security enabled. They must also have the 'Password Changeable' line of their password set to 'Y'. This function operates in the same manner as the VMS Password Change routine. When entered, you will be asked to enter your old password, followed by the new password that you want to change to. You are then asked to verify the new password by typing it in again. The new security password is then updated in the security files and comes into effect immediately.

The <PF1><H> key combination (or the HELP key) invokes the HELP function. This option has not been fully implemented in this release.

The <PF1><K> key combination enables the KEYBOARD PROTECTION option. This function locks your terminal so that no commands or information can be entered until the correct password is entered. If security is on when this function is invoked then the password is the password used to enter the TSC system. If security is not on the password is the user's system username. This function is useful if you wish to leave your terminal without logging out of the system entirely.

The <PF1><Q> key combination allows the user to change the PRINT & BATCH QUEUE default values used when running programs and printing reports. Refer to Appendix B - 'Print and Batch Queues' for instructions on changing these defaults.

The <PF1><C> key combination invokes the CALCULATOR program. The pop-up calculator is only available to sites with a licensed version of the calculator program.
