The budget forecast by formula provides the ability to generate a forecast based on one of two formulas;

Prior Year(s) expenses
GL accounts can be selected based on a GL selection criteria. The report can be run in both a preliminary or a final mode, allowing forecast balances to be previewed prior to posting to the GL.
PROGRAM PROMPTS
FORECAST START PERIOD [YYYYPP]
Enter the period at which you would like to start the forecast. Expenses will be calculated up to, but not including this period.
SELECTION CRITERIA CODE
Enter the selection criteria for the GL’s you would like included for this forecast, by pressing the <FIND> or <CR> key. This will display the GL Selection Criteria window. If you are unsure how to select or create a GL criteria, see Appendix AK in the BAS documentation.
A=CONSUME BUDGET, B=PRIOR YEAR(S) EXPENSES [A/B]
Select ‘A’ to base the forecast on consuming the budget, select ‘B’ to base the forecast on expenses from a prior year or years.

Forecast balance is based on balances within the BAS system
Forecast = Budget – Expenses (up to but not including period specified in first prompt)
The expense balance requires that all months prior to the period specified in the first prompt have been run through a month end.
2. Prior Years Expenses
If ‘B’ is selected the following prompts will display; FROM PRIOR YEAR [YYYY]
TO PRIOR YEAR [YYYY]
Enter the years for which you would like to calculate the forecasted balance. PRELIMINARY/FINAL [P/F]
Enter ‘P’ to run a report only. Enter ‘F’ to update the forecast records for the selected GL’s. If ‘F’ is selected the following prompts will display;
DELETE EXISTING FORECAST? [H/S/N]
Enter ‘H’ to hard delete existing forecast records. These records will be purged from the system and will no longer exist.
Enter ‘S’ to soft delete existing forecast records. These records will still exist but will not be included in any forecast balances on inquiries or reports.
Enter ‘N’ to not delete existing forecast records. This records will still be included in any forecast balances on inquiries or reports.
