Common FAXSR System Management Commands

The contents of this appendix are intended to assist users of atrievePurchasing products that offer direct o tfax output. This document does not supercede the Omtool FaxSR documentation (Appendix AR). In the event this document contradicts Omtool documentation, the Omtool documentation is to be considered correct.

Summary Of Operation

Step  1 Entry

  • Enter a document such as a purchase order and select the direct to fax option when asked how to print. The atrieve product formats and sends the document to a print queue. The print queue is typically called 'FAXSR_PRINT' or 'FAXSR$PRINT'. The print queue status is always 'Stopped'. Once the direct to fax module has passed the document on to the 'FAXSR_PRINT' queue, the responsibility for the document lies totally with the Omtool FaxSR product.

Step  2 Recognition

  • The document resides in the 'FAXSR_PRINT' queue until the faxing software scans the queue and recognizes that there is a document ready for faxing. By default Omtool's faxing software scans the 'FAXSR_PRINT' queue every 2 minutes.

  • To view the list of jobs waiting to be found in the 'FAXSR_PRINT' queue, enter the following command:

  • $ SHOW QUEUE FAXSR_PRINT/ALL

Step  3 Merge

  • Once a document has been recognized in the 'FAXSR_PRINT' queue it is picked up for processing by the FaxSR software. At this stage the data produced by the atrieve software products is merged with the layout and signature files. Once the merge information has taken place the FaxSR product sends the completed document to its destination.

  • FaxSR typically broadcasts a message to the sending users screen stating the job successful. This may take some time as the FaxSR product is configured to attempt to fax a document 5 times.

Example of the message Omtool presents to the sending users screen.

%FAXSR Successful, Entry:0.0.6, Phone 8269675, RecipientId 604 8269675
