BCPSEA Annual Salary Calculations

Teachers

First function line only will be used.  It is bumped up to 100% FTE salary.

First function line only:

3366.312 x 10 pays = 33663.12/.80 (FTE) = 42078.90 full time salary.

Next the extract looks to the assignments - each assigned FTE will take a portion of that 100% salary.

Annual Salary Calculations_1.png

First assignment is .20 FTE, so 42078.90 x .20 = 8415.78, round to 8416

Second assignment is .50 FTE, so 42078.90 x .50 = 21039.45 round to 21039

For teachers, it has to be done this way.  If the first assignment was a leave assignment, then there would be no function line for the .20. Therefore it would take the first function line of .50 FTE and the salary of .50 and try to distribute this between both assignments, creating a fail in the upload as the salaries will be too low.

Support Staff (S/H type function lines)

The hours from the function line x the rate of pay x the number of pay periods – same as it calculates the salary for life insurance purposes.

The calculation starts here:

25.00 x 22.02 x 26 pays = 14313.00

30.00 x 20.67 x 26 pays = 16122.60

40.00 x 12 pays = 480.00

25 x 12 pays = 300.00

14313 + 16122.60 + 480.00 + 300.00 = 31215.60

Now to the assignments to split this up:

Annual Salary Calculations_3.png

Bus Driver position is 40.00 hours max per week

12.50/40.00 = .3125 FTE

Special Ed position is 35.00 hours max per week

15.00/35.00 = .4286 FTE

.3125 + .4286 = .7411 total FTE both positions combined

To figure out how much of the salary for each position:

Position 1 at .3125/.7411 = .4217 of the combined total assignments

.4217 x 31215.60 = 13163.62 of the for this position

Position 2 at .4286/.7411 = .5783 of the combined total assignments

.5783 x 31215.60 = 18051.98 for this position

Add .4217 + .5783, which comes up with 100% of the assignments

13163.62 + 18051.98 = 31215.60, which is 100% of the annual salary calculated.

The amounts are not 100% correct for each position, but the combined reports the correct, true, annual salary.

Hourly function lines are treated the same way.

The calculation will IGNORE end dates, so if there are any old function lines sitting on employees, these should be deleted as annual salary will calculate on them. This is more important for support staff since teachers calculate on one function line only, support staff will calculate on all.
