Multi-Employer Plans (MEPS)

  • Enter 'N' when the pension for this payroll is a single-employer plan. The full PA offset is used regardless of the employees FTE.

  • Enter 'Y' when the pension for this payroll is a multi-employer plan. The PA offset on multi-employer plans is reduced by the employee FTE.

The Pension Adjustment Guide defines Multi-employer plans (MEP's):

'Generally, MEP's are RPP's that a group of employers sponsor. However, not all plans to which more than one employer contributes are MEP'. We only consider an RPP to be a MEP if, at the beginning of the year, it is expected that no more than 95% of the active plan members will work for any one of the employers or group of related employers at any time during the year. If this is not the case, we consider the plan to be a single-employer plan.'

Alberta Pension Service Based PA

This prompt is only applicable for Alberta employees contributing to TRF for a Defined Benefit PA calculation based on Days Worked.

  • Enter 'N' when this option is not applicable, or the employee's FTE based on days worked is to be used throughout the PA formula.

  • Enter 'Y' when the calculated pension service should replace the employee's FTE throughout the PA formula. The pension service is defined as "PSP / (FT-MRS * 12)". The values for the pension service calculation are taken from the employee's TRF Maintenance date per pay period.
