Open Credits

The Cash Receipt Entry module also allows you to process Open Credits for a specific customer.

E.g.: An invoice is issued with a due date of July 1, 2020. The cash is received and recorded as cash on account on June 15, 2020. The open credits program will allow you to apply the cash on account to the invoice. If the open credit program is not used, the cash on account and invoice will remain on the system as separate documents.

Step Description

  1. Create a batch in cash receipt entry.
  2. Enter all information as you normally would for a cash receipt.
  3. At the cash tendered field, enter the letters 'OC'. This will trigger the system to pull up a window with all open credits (e.g. credit notes, cash on account) for that customer.
  4. Use the arrow keys to move up and down and click Select key to select the open credit you want. When selection is complete, press OK. The system will put the amount in the cash tendered field. 
  5. The system will display all unpaid invoices and allow you to apply the open credit as you normally would apply cash.
  6. Exit and balance batch

NOTE: An open credit report is available to let you know what customers have cash on account or credit notes.
